San Agustin is probably the destination with the most important archeological sites nationwide, where you can see the enigmatic statues in several places all over the area with different representations, sizes, shapes, and even colors. The town itself is also a great place to walk its streets with white and green houses and buildings. Stunning landscapes with several waterfalls, great lookouts, coffee plantations and other natural beauties make this also a great nature travel destination.

SAN AGUSTIN ARCHEOLOGICAL PARK
On this day, you will fly from Bogota to the town of Pitalito (07:00-12:00) depending on the airline schedule for that day. Once there, you will have a 50-mins. transfer to your hotel in San Agustin. You will have lunch, and after that, you will have a tour at the Archeological Park with our bilingual guide, discovering the first statues of the region in this place that has the best collection of archeology nationwide. Later on, you will be taken back to the hotel.
TOURIST RING OF SAN AGUSTIN
On this day, you will have a full day tour starting at 8:00 AM, visiting by car the main attractions of the surrounding area of San Agustin, which are the Bordones waterfall, the Magdalena strait, the Obando museum, the statues of Isnos and Alto de Los Idolos. At each place you will have different stops where you will have the explanation of the history and mysticism of the area, At the end of the afternoon, you will be taken back to your hotel.
LA PELOTA & PURUTAL SITES
On this day, you will start at 8:00 AM visiting some of the most beautiful statues of the whole region, located at La Pelota and Purutal sites. These statues still keep the original colors that the civilization that build them used almost 2.000 years ago. In the afternoon you will be taken to the airport in a 50-mins. transfer in order to be 2-hrs. before your flight back to Bogota (10:00-17:00) depending on the airline schedule for that day.

The ecosystem of San Agustin area is special, therefore it is important to follow the recommendations in order to avoid or diminish any negative impact on them, as well as being prepared for a pleasurable experience, according to that:
- It is necessary not to have significant physical limitations, since the area does not have an infrastructure that facilitates activities for people with limited mobility.
- It is important to reduce waste generation (single-use plastics). According to that, it is important to take your own rigid non-disposable recipient for liquids.

- We recommend the use of binoculars to wildlife watching and moisture-protected cameras.

WEATHER CONDITIONS & BILINGUISM
It is necessary to be properly prepared for the weather conditions of the destination which are detailed below, but as this is an approximation, please note that they may vary. Also, keep in mind that not everywhere you can find bilingual staff or people at the destination.

There is good access to ATM´s and dataphones in the town of San Agustin. However, it is advisable to carry cash for extra expenses in the rural areas of the destination.

You will visit a destination where the signal varies according to your location, there will be some places like the main areas of towns where there is good signal, but you will also visit several rural where you might have poor or non-existent phone connectivity.
Hotel offers Wi-Fi with good connectivity, although the signal may not always be the best.
TIPPING
Tipping is not mandatory, but if you consider you can tip the guides and/or other staff with an amount from 20.000 to 50.000 COP (5 to 12 USD approx.) per day of service.
SEASONS
- The dry season in Colombia ranges from Mid-November till March, in this period of the year you can expect to have easier hikes and less rain in general.
- The water levels will be lower and the hikes in general might be easier as you can expect less mud and drier trails.
- Getting by car to off the road paths will be easier, making the transportation times shorter to those spots in very rural areas.
- Migratory birds might be easier to spot during the dry season.
- The rainy season starts in April and ends in mid-November, being May and October the rainiest months in Colombia and from June to September a softer rainy period.
- In the rainy season you can expect to see the waterfalls and rivers with high levels and more imposing, with a greener vegetation.
