CHICAMOCHA CANYON TREK 5D4N
Barichara is surrounded by magnificent landscapes of the Chicamocha canyon that hikers will not be able to resist exploring. This trek proposes to leave from this town until reaching the beautiful town of Los Santos passing through the tobacco crops, going down to the bottom of the Chicamocha canyon and crossing the river crossing the first toll in Colombia. We will learn more about the Guane Indigenous, who occupied the region before the arrival of the colonizers.

BUCARAMANGA – S.V.CHUCURI -ZAPATOCA
On this day, you will be taken from
Bucaramanga which is the capital of
the Santander region, to San Vicente de
Chucuri, which is a town located 85 km
away approximately in an estimated 2
hours transfer by car. Once there, you will
be taken in a 4x4 that will drop you off
at rural area of the town, where you will
start an amazing hike, 23 km of ancient
trails starting at 2.400 m.a.s.l. passing by
the rainforest ecosystems of Yariguíes
National Park. You will head down to the
town of Zapatoca located 1.700 m.a.s.l.ZAPATOCA – GUANE - BARICHARA
On this day, you will have a 22 kms hike starting at the Zapatoca lookout where you will have a first nice view of Chicamocha canyon. You will walk by the “Lengerke” trails, which are ancient cobblestone connections between the towns at the canyon. You will arrive in Guane; This town it’s one of the most authentic and non-tourist places you are going to cross through. It has a beautiful
landscape and traditional food and architecture. You can try the most traditional liquor named Sabajon that represents the region. It is only 9 km from Barichara and from Guane a car will take you to Barichara.BARICHARA - VILLANUEVA
On day 3, you will do a 10 kms hike by the west side of the canyon, where you will recognize different plantations like tobacco, cocoa, pineapple, avocado and coffee and will visit some of them, before arriving toVillanueva, which is the 5th town to visit in this journey. Villanueva is at 1450 m.a.s.l. It has a beautiful landscape and most of the trail you will enjoy a perfect view from the Suarez River, there is not a big difference in elevation, so this daywill be more about contemplation and enjoying the beauty of nature. Here you will rest.
VILLANUEVA - JORDAN
On this day you are going to start the journey from Villanueva town, where you will start
a 10 kms hike down the canyon, in order to take advantage of the cool weather and the beautiful light of the morning. We will descend more than 1.000 meters in order to reach the level of the river and make a break
at a natural refuge in the town of Jordan, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon we will take advantage of the pool to cool off. We will have dinner and spend the night there in the ecolodge.JORDAN – LOS SANTOS
08:00) – Breakfast, and after that check-out from the ecolodge. Then we will start our ascent of 5 kms and 850 mts of elevation gain towards the beautiful town of Los Santos and its whitewashed houses. We will visit its enchanted streets together before having lunch in the town. In the afternoon we will go
to El Roble coffee farm where we will have the opportunity in the afternoon to take a coffee tour in the middle of the exceptional plantations that produce the famous Mesa de Los Santos coffee. We will learn the details of its manufacturing process, from harvesting to roasting, and we will be able to taste it in a very pleasant environment.

• Accommodation in individual private beds.
• Ground 2 hours transfer to the city of Bucaramanga by public or private transport
• Additional second night in one of the traditional rooms of El Roble coffee farm or any other accommodation in Los Santos.
• Instead of the coffee tour, the possibility of taking the Chicamocha cable car from Mesa de los Santos to reach the Chicamocha Amusement Park and then return to San Gil or Barichara in the late afternoon.
