Santa Marta, known as the Pearl of America is a perfect destination for ecotourism, offering a great variety of ecosystems within relatively short distances. On this tour, you can enjoy safely and comfortably guided tours at the Tayrona National Natural Park and its beaches, explore the rivers originated from the Sierra Nevada, and experience the coffee and cacao cultivation processes that are characteristic of the region.

WELCOMING IN SANTA MARTA
On this day, we will pick you up at the airport of Santa Marta. A driver will be waiting with a sign with your name. Once you meet him, you will have a 1.5-hours transfer from the airport to your ecolodge located next to Tayrona National Park. Your hotel has a great pool and it is next to a fresh river that you can enjoy in the afternoon at leisure. You will be surrounded by great nature and 4 kms away from the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea.
DON DIEGO RIVER & TAYRONAKA
On this day, you will visit Tayronaka, which is an archeological site with a museum of the ancient civilization that inhabited the area and protected by indigenous communities that inhabit the area. In the afternoon you will do a tubing activity in the refreshing waters of Don Diego River, where you can relax and see some fauna like howler monkeys and reptiles, before meeting the Caribbean Sea. Later on, you will be taken back to the ecolodge.
TAYRONA NATIONAL PARK
On this second day, you will be picked up at 8:00 AM in order to have a full day shared guided hike by the Tayrona national park, visiting the most famous spots, its rocky landscapes and its wild beaches. With some luck you can observe some fauna on the way and will see the unique scenery of this place having some free time to enjoy its wild beaches. In the afternoon you will be taken by car to Santa Marta with all the group.
MINCA SHARED TOUR
On this day, you will visit Minca, which is town located in the mountains, where you will have a shared tour visiting La Victoria, which is a farm with high quality coffee and cocoa plantations of Colombia where you can learn about the process of those crops. In the afternoon you will visit Marinka waterfalls, in which you can refresh in fresh water and will be taken back to the hotel in Santa Marta by 5 PM.

- Hat and/or other sun protection for the head and neck.
- Sunglasses to protect your eyes from the reflection of the sun.
- Long-sleeved shirts to avoid sunburn and mosquito bites during outdoor activities.
- Comfortable pants and avoid jeans.
- Waterproof, preferably quick-drying clothing or a rain poncho.
- Appropriate footwear for the hikes, trekking shoes are advisable and at least one pair of sneakers for change. Footwear can get wet during the hikes.
- Swimming suit, towels and water shoes, as there will be chance to swim in the sea, rivers, waterfalls and creeks of the area.
- Sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
- Protection for electronic devices since they may be susceptible to damages due to humidity and/or rain.
- Non-disposable rigid container to refill water (canteen or thermos).
- Personal documents and count with your own medical insurance.

Recomendations
The ecosystems of the Santa Marta are special, therefore it is important to follow the recommendations in order to avoid or diminish any negative impact on them, as well as being prepared for a pleasurable experience, according to that:
- It is necessary to have an acceptable physical condition, since you will do some hikes and outdoor activities in nature.
- It is important to reduce waste generation (single-use plastics). According to that, it is important to take your own rigid non-disposable recipient for liquids.
- Follow and abide by the instructions of the guides and authorities during each of the routes and tours.
- Take your cautions against mosquitoes, such as long-sleeved clothes, repellent, among other cautions you or your doctor might consider.
- You should count with the yellow-fever vaccination. Ideally you should have it at least 10 days before your visit to the destination.
- Currently, there is no major outbreak of contagious disease or mosquito transmission in the areas to be visited. However, if there is an outbreak or important biological risk in the destinations to be visited, it will be informed in a timely manner prior to the trip.
- We recommend the use of binoculars to wildlife watching and moisture-protected cameras.

WEATHER CONDITIONS, CONNECTIVITY & BILINGUALISM
It is necessary to be properly prepared for the weather conditions of the destination which are detailed below, but as this is an approximation, please note that they may vary. Also keep in mind that not everywhere you can find bilingual staff or people at the destinations to be visited.
Santa Marta & surroundings (Days 01-05):

Appropriate phone signal and good wi-fi.
You will have bilingual guides, except for Don Diego River tour. Locals do not speak English, having some staff at the hotel with just to communicate in English.
ATM´S
There is good access to ATM´s and dataphones in the main cities and towns to be visited. However, it is advisable to carry cash for extra expenses in some rural areas in the destination.
PHONE SIGNAL & WI-FI
You will visit a destination where the signal varies according to your location, there will be places like cities or the main areas of towns where there is strong signal, but you will also visit several rural and natural areas where you might have poor phone or non-existent connectivity.
Hotels offer Wi-Fi with an acceptable connectivity. Although the signal may not always be the best, especially in those located in rural areas.
TIPPING
Tipping is not mandatory, but if you consider you can tip the guides and/or other staff with an amount from 20.000 to 50.000 COP (5 to 12 USD approx.) per day of service.
SEASONS
- The dry season in Colombia ranges from Mid-November till March, in this period of the year you can expect to have easier hikes and less rain in general.
- The river levels will be lower and you can expect less mud and drier trails.
- The rainy season starts in April and ends in mid-November, being May and October the rainiest months in Colombia and from June to September a softer rainy period.
- In the rainy season you can expect to see the waterfalls and rivers with high levels and more imposing, with a greener vegetation.
