Leticia and the Amazon are located in the far south of the country. On this tour, you will visit indigenous communities in both Colombia and Peru and contribute to projects such as Musmuki and Vista Alegre in the Peruvian Amazon. Additionally, you will visit Puerto Nariño and Lake Tarapoto, directly supporting local projects and communities with your visit. On the last day, you will take a canoe trip to the buffer zone of the Amacayacu National Natural Park.

WELCOMING AT CALANOA LODGE
On this day we will receive you at Leticia airport. Once you meet our guides, you will be taken in a public boat by the Amazon with these departure times: (07:00, 10:00 & 13:30) towards the Calanoa reserve. You will check-in and can have afternoon and night activities walking by the primary forest, guided by expert natives who will take you to discover the sounds of insects, frogs, owls, monkeys, plants that bloom at night and phosphorescent mushrooms.
PUERTO NARIÑO & TARAPOTO LAGOONS
On this day, you will have a full day tour starting with a navigation by the Amazon River towards Puerto Nariño. Then, you will have a walking tour in this, which was named the first fully sustainable town nationwide with no vehicles and a calm environment. Later on, you will have lunch and will visit the Tarapoto Lakes, where you can swim and see dolphins. Later on, you will return to the hotel while enjoying one of the great sunsets over the Amazon jungle.
INDIGENOUS VILLAGES & CALANOA RESERVE
On this day, you will have a half-day tour visiting El Vergel or Mocagua indigenous village, to get closer to the daily life of its people, learn about medicinal plants, legends and myths. In the afternoon, you can have a walk by the Calanoa Natural Reserve, where a canoe will pick you up to return by water to Calanoa. This tour is recommended for wildlife enthusiasts where with some luck you will observe birds, monkeys, possibly some mammals.
FREE MORNING AND FAREWELL
On this day, you can do bird watching activity at 5:30 am, can do a kayak activity or can just relax in your last day here. You can return to Leticia on a public boat with these departure times: (07:00, 11:00 & 15:00). Once at Leticia, you can optionally have a tour by the city and the Ethnographic Museum of the Bank of the Republic. You will have a transfer included to the airport 2 hours before your flight to Bogota or other destinations.

- MEDICAL ASSISTANCE CARD The tour includes a travel assistance card for all the days that covers possible accidents, medical attention and emergency transportations for a quick response in case of being necessary according to the evacuation time during the activities and level of medical attention at the destination.

What to take?
- Hat and/or other sun protection for the head and neck.
- Sunglasses to protect your eyes from the reflection of the sun.
- Long-sleeved shirts to avoid sunburn and mosquito bites during outdoor activities.
- Comfortable pants and avoid jeans.
- Waterproof, preferably quick-drying clothing or a rain poncho.
- Rubber boots are mandatory and at least one pair of shoes to change. The lodge can provide rubber boots, but we need to know in advance the show size of each visitor.
- Swimming suit, towels and water shoes, as there will be chance to take baths in the rivers, lagoons and creeks of the area.
- Sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
- Protection for electronic devices since they may be susceptible to damages due to humidity and/or rain in the area to visit.
- Non-disposable rigid container to refill water (canteen or thermos).
- Hands-free backpack, please avoid wheeled suitcases as much as possible.
- Day-packs for carrying personal stuff, hydration, snacks and other elements during the outdoor day activities.
- Flashlight.

Recomendations
The ecosystems of the Amazon area are special, therefore it is important to follow the recommendations in order to avoid or diminish any negative impact on them, as well as being prepared for a pleasurable experience, according to that:
- It is necessary to have an acceptable physical condition, since you will do some hikes and outdoor activities in nature.
- It is important to reduce waste generation (single-use plastics). According to that, it is important to take your own rigid non-disposable recipient for liquids.
- Follow and abide by the instructions of the guides and authorities during each of the routes and tours.
- Take your cautions against mosquitoes, such as long-sleeved clothes, repellent, among other cautions you or your doctor might consider.
- You should count with the yellow-fever vaccination. Ideally you should have it at least 10 days before your visit to the destination.
- Currently, there is no major outbreak of contagious disease or mosquito transmission in the areas to be visited. However, if there is an outbreak or important biological risk in the destinations to be visited, it will be informed in a timely manner prior to the trip.
- We recommend the use of binoculars to wildlife watching and moisture-protected cameras.
- You will visit a destination with a great level of conservation of ecosystems with special flora and fauna. However, wildlife sightings can’t be guaranteed, please take into account that they are in their natural habitat and humans can’t control or influence in their behavior.
- This is also a cultural immersion trip that takes place in indigenous territories; therefore, it is important a good and respectful behavior regarding their traditions and spaces.
- Excessive consumption of alcohol and/or psychoactive substances during the activities mentioned in the plan can be harmful to your health and safety.

WEATHER CONDITIONS & BILINGUALISM
It is necessary to be properly prepared for the weather conditions of the destination which are detailed below, but as this is an approximation, please note that they may vary. Also, keep in mind that it is difficult to find bilingual staff or people at the destination. Leticia:

ATM´S
It is necessary to carry cash for extra expenses during the trip since the last town where you will have access to ATMs is Leticia, after that there won’t be any ATMs or dataphones in the rural areas to visit.
PHONE SIGNAL & WIFI
You will visit a destination where there is good phone and internet signal in the town of Leticia. Once you get into the jungle you won’t have any phone or internet connection. There’s Wi-Fi with decent but not perfect signal in the dining area of the Lodge.
TIPPING
Tipping is not mandatory, but if you consider you can tip the guides and/or other staff with an amount from 20.000 to 50.000 COP (5 to 12 USD approx.) per day of service.
SEASONS
- Contrary to the seasons in the rest of the country, the rain and dry seasons occur in different months.
- Normally, the rainy (high waters) season starts in January and ends in May, however, it is starting to be more difficult to exactly know when the season will change.
- On high waters season you can easily get to several spots and destinations by canoe or boats while in the dry season you will have to walk longer distances.
- In the low waters season that starts from June to November there is less rain, and some river wildlife might be easier to spot, but when there is a strong drought the lagoons and lakes might have affectations to spot wildlife.
